The municipality of Bach, a little village including several hamlets and farm groups, is located in the upper Lechtal valley.
Bach, a little holiday village along the Alperschonbach river, is an ideal starting point for hikers and mountaineers who would like to experience the Lechtal Alps on foot. Particularly popular are the unoccupied Madautal and Sulztal valleys as well as the 2,226 m high Jöchelspitze mountain. The starting point for the latter can be reached by the Lechtaler Bergbahn funicular: recommendable is the botanic educational trail, leading from the mountain station to the Jöchelspitze mountain within 1.5 hours, as well as the circular course with the mountain inn Jöchelspitze at 1,800 m asl as stating point. Via the Lachenkopf mountain and the Lechtal panoramic trail you reach the Bernhardseck mountain hut (1,812 m asl) within 3 hours, while the Alpenrosensteig (Alpine Rose Trail) takes you back to where you started in a two-hours' walk. Due to the spacious meadows for landing as well as the beneficial thermic conditions the Jöchelspitze mountain is also an insiders' tip for hang-gliders!
Village fairs and concerts of the local band provide for a cheerful atmosphere. Furthermore, two churches and chapels await visitors that are interested in culture. And when the sun shines on the village, Bach really represents an exemplary and fairytale mountain village! In winter the Lechtaler Bergbahn funicular takes you into the Jöchelspitze skiing area, including 5 km of ski runs. The view from the top on the summits of the Lechtal and Allgäu Alps is breathtaking, and a funpark with jumps, steep curves and walls provides fun and action if you seek the thrill.
